Announcing the Grand Opening of Our Merch Store

Par Ed Oswald

Weather enthusiasts are passionate. When looking for ways to help fund our video and podcasting work, we wanted to give our readers and viewers something tangible in return for their monetary support. So we’re happy to announce the grand opening of our Merch Store! And in celebration, everything in the store is 25% off through April 16.

But simply throwing our logo on stuff seemed lame. I am not expecting people to walk around with our logo and website address. In creating some of these designs, I wanted to make something you can wear outside of the house (fast fashion that’s worn more than once) while getting a laugh.

Those who have read and watched me know I have a sense of humor, so I wanted that to shine through here. Most designs are available for both men and women, with the design on the front, and our logo and website address on the back – big enough that it’s readable, but small enough that you’re not a walking billboard. But I’m hoping the design on the front gets the attention.

We’ve selected Spreadshop to handle the printing and shipping, which can usually deliver your stuff in under one week.

We hope you check it out (and of course, find something you like).

A New E-Book, Too!

Our Merch Store isn’t all. We’re also making available a new e-book: Home Weather Stations 101: All You Need to Know About Choosing, Setting Up, and Maintaining Your Home Weather Station. Think of this entire website summarized into a 40-page PDF.

In this quick-start e-book, you’ll learn:

  • What features matter most in a weather station—and which ones you can skip
  • How to position your sensors for the most accurate data
  • Common mistakes to avoid during setup and maintenance
  • Which brands and models offer the best value for your budget

Plus, we’ve included a bonus glossary of 100+ weather terms to help you better understand meteorological lingo used by pros and passionate hobbyists.

We’ve made this e-book available on Payhip using a “pay what you can” system. We wanted to give our readers a way to support our work and get something in return. While we have put a price of $2 on it, you can pay $10 or $15 or whatever you want.

Where does the money go?

Of course, we’re transparent. Money from these new offerings will go directly to our podcasting and video production efforts. As we’ve grown, so has the budget. While we had experimented with memberships on YouTube, it wasn’t a good fit for TWSE. These make more sense.

Once things get going, I plan to open our store to reader—and viewer-submitted designs (by the way, the customizer tool in our store already allows you to do that somewhat). I am also looking at ways to use this for the public good, such as fundraisers for charities we support. There’s just so much that can be done.

But first, we need to fund our podcasts and videos. We have hundreds of dollars in expenses coming due and too many ideas.

Don’t forget my other book!

And I’d be foolish here not to mention that I wrote a weather book. Weather Watch: An Introduction to America’s Le temps et le climat is now in its second edition. You can find that on Amazon. And if you’re a Kindle Unlimited member, you can start reading it as part of your membership.

  • Discussion éclairante sur le changement climatique

Thank you so much for your incredible support these past five years. Your support matters more now than ever. We’re excited to hear what you think, and of course, find something in the store you might like. 🙂

Stay weatherwise, everyone!
