Commentaires sur WeatherFlow Tempest Weather System Review: Taking a second look par Ken Goldstein, PhD, PE https://theweatherstationexperts.com/fr/weatherflow-tempest-weather-system-review/#comment-1696 Sam. 14 sept. 2024 07:56:58 +0000 http://box5668.temp.domains/~thewebn8/?p=192#comment-1696 I also had one of the early Tempest devices, which reported accurate weather data for the first 8 months. Then, it began reporting errant readings, mostly for temperature. Here, on Oahu, we are seldom warmer than 94F, or cooler than 66F, so getting readings far outside that range, had me on the phone with customer service. At first, they were able to recalibrate the unit, based on my thermocouple. Then, the rain haptic sensor began reporting wild readings; we occasionally get a 15-inch downpour, but readings over 50″ were ridiculous! They eventually replaced the unit, at no charge, & it is much more-accurate. I still double-check with thermocouple, & analog rain gauge, but the new unit is seldom more than 2% different. I’m quite pleased with Tempest.

Commentaires sur Ambient Weather WS-2902 Review par Joe Williams https://theweatherstationexperts.com/fr/ambient-weather-ws-2902c-review/#comment-1391 mar. 23 juillet 2024 13:53:40 +0000 http://box5668.temp.domains/~thewebn8/?p=190#comment-1391 My WS-2902 worked for about 5 years. I then bought a WS-1965 along with a lightning detector to replace it. The lightning detector did not work out of the box. It has been a nightmare to return it for a replacement. I would not recommend Ambient Weather products. They do not honor their warranty.

It’s such a frustrating issue with the station. Everything else about it is top notch (part of the reason why we kept it an editor’s choice). I do remember during its Indiegogo days the rain gauge was the hold up. Feels like it was rushed out.

I do want to test Ecowitt’s version, to see if its just Tempest or its just the concept of haptic rain gauges in general being like this.

I too have seen dramatic later adjustments to the rain measurements on my Tempest, usually appearing the next day. My understanding is those adjustments are part of the AI powered Weatherflow data analysis done in the background (usually overnight) which combines information flows from individual home units with other data sources “including measurements from satellites, aircraft, radars, and other surface weather stations” (per the Tempest website.) The next day readings are (in my experience) generally pretty accurate. The real time haptic rain measurements are not nearly as reliable.

If supremely accurate real time rain measurements are important (as they might be in some applications) the Tempest may not be the best choice, a point this review makes clear. The rest of the sensors, and especially the mobile app and its useful, information-packed user interface, are (again, in my opinion) superior, in some cases by far, to any other similarly priced consumer weather station.

* As an aside, Tempest customer support is near instantly available and astonishingly good. The support function from the half dozen other consumer grade weather station suppliers which I’ve tried is so poor that it alone is a deal killer with regards to the likelihood of future purchases.

Commentaires sur Ambient Weather WS-2902 Review par Ralph Morgan https://theweatherstationexperts.com/fr/ambient-weather-ws-2902c-review/#comment-942 Vendredi 10 mai 2024 14:29:22 +0000 http://box5668.temp.domains/~thewebn8/?p=190#comment-942 I had a Acurite for several years and since it was in need of a replacement. I chose the Ambient WS2902D as my number 2 son had a couple at the ranches and he said he was happy with them. Got it, set it up and got the first rain. Two inches in my old style glass tube. Only 1.2 inches in my 2902. Ouch that is not good. Only recording 60% of what fell. Well Ambient tech said I need to spray the funnel with silicone to let the rain slid down into the catch pan and record. Did that and another rain of 1″ and .59 recorded on the Ambient console. Then tech had me do a test the Ambient uses to validate measurements. That test failed just like the real world recording, only it was an improvement, console showed .28 and the correct should have been .39. Then Ambient went silent on me. Can’t get anyone on the phone as you wait and wait and then get a “leave your name and number” and never get a call back. Last I got from Ambient was a email that said if the test failed he would be working on getting me a new sensor. Never heard from them again. I had bought from Amazon and my 30 day return policy had expired. So here I was stuck with a weather station and wasn’t getting correct reading. My question to you Ed is did you do any testing on all these units to see if they were recording correct rainfall amounts. That is my main purpose for having the weather station, rainfall recording. All the other readings are good but for my benefit rainfall is the most desired. So I pleaded with Amazon and they gave my an exception to the 30 day rule and I returned the WS2902D. Now I am researching to see what weather station I should buy because I want one.

Commentaires sur Quelle station météo Ecowitt (Fine Offset) dois-je acheter ? par Bob Wave https://theweatherstationexperts.com/fr/ecowitt-station-meteo/#comment-592 jeu. 4 janvier 2024 21:25:30 +0000 http://108.61.191.133/?p=5947#comment-592 I’ve found Ecowitt devices user unfriendly. The software is your typical cryptic Chinese variety that comes up with unintelligible instructions.
My rain guage is very inaccurate, by a factor of 10.

Doug – thanks for this. When we first did this review, it was brand new, but now with a few years, we’re able to get an idea of durability.

The Tempest definitely has a nice set of features that make it attractive, but you’re not the first person I’ve heard with an early unit failing. Have you reached out to support yet?

Everything was working great then a couple of weeks ago the tempest dropped Wi-Fi connection. I took it down and went through the troubleshooting process, every day, multiple times a day. I guess my unit has kicked the bucket. I don’t know what I will buy to replace the tempest.

I am still having issues with tipping spoon so I’ll be looking into that now. Otherwise a great tool….
